Android Developer – Long Term Contract

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Android Developer to join our agile team on a long‑term contract in Toronto. You will design, build, and maintain native Android applications while collaborating closely with product owners and technical architects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop robust solutions to complex problems using established frameworks and design patterns.
• Gather and analyse requirements, propose optimal technical approaches, and write clean, testable code.
• Collaborate within an agile Scrum environment, participate in sprint planning and retrospectives.
• Review existing codebases, conduct impact analyses, and ensure maintainability.
• Provide technical guidance to product owners and mentor junior developers.
• Stay current with Android platform updates and recommend relevant improvements.
• Communicate technical solutions to both technical and non‑technical audiences through documentation and presentations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of native Android development experience and at least 3 years of Java development.
• Strong grasp of object‑oriented programming, Android architecture, and software design patterns.
• Experience with Android libraries, RESTful service integration, and automated testing (JUnit, Robolectric, Espresso).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
