About the role

The Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI) is seeking a motivated legal professional to join its ombudsman team as an Advisor, Legal & Compliance. This hybrid position supports OBSI’s legal, compliance, privacy, complaints and corporate secretarial functions, helping to maintain a fair and trusted financial system for Canadians.

Key responsibilities

• Manage compliance, service, privacy, and reconsideration complaint inboxes.
• Assist with investigations, audits, and regulatory reporting.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate board meetings, maintain corporate records, and support corporate secretarial duties.
• Liaise with regulators and internal teams to ensure timely compliance with legal and governance obligations.

Required profile

• Law clerk or equivalent legal background with a strong interest in public service.
• Ability to contribute to financial fairness and justice.
• Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
• Residency in the Greater Toronto Area preferred, with flexibility for hybrid work.
