Accountant (Bilingual English/French) – Montreal

About the role

Xona, a navigational intelligence company, is looking for an Accountant to own the financial operations, accounting, and bookkeeping for its Canadian entity based in Montreal. The role works closely with the Operations Manager and the U.S. financial team to build scalable finance processes for a high‑growth environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end accounting cycles, from expense capture to month‑end close, ensuring accurate record‑keeping and reconciliations.
• Support large‑scale financial operations, including cost accounting, budget tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, coordinating timely payments with external vendors.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities, journal entries, and audit preparation.
• Enforce multi‑location, inter‑entity accounting practices and transfer‑pricing protocols.
• Collaborate with program managers and government contacts to recognize revenue and contract milestones.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 4–8 years of experience in financial operations or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. GAAP.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑growth scale‑up environment.
• Interest or exposure to aerospace, satellite, or technology‑driven industries is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with QuickBooks or comparable ERP systems.
• Familiarity with cost accounting practices.
• Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition, especially over‑time recognition.
• Experience with ERP implementation.
