Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee

About the role

Join TULLOCH’s Environmental team in Sudbury, ON as a Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee. You will support water treatment operations at a mining site, gaining hands‑on experience in sampling, maintenance, and safety while working toward full operator competency.

Key responsibilities

• Attend the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) on a regular schedule and ensure effluent meets release parameters.
• Perform routine sampling of process and environmental water, and deliver samples to the laboratory.
• Maintain reagent inventories and conduct daily equipment inspections, including meter calibration.
• Keep the plant clean and safe, performing safety inspections as required.
• Support research, equipment procurement, and supplier information gathering.
• Record and report daily activities and liaise with cross‑shift owners and supervisors.
• Provide frontline monitoring work and assist with other environmental projects when the plant is inactive.

Required profile

• Responsible, hazard‑averse individual willing to take ownership of processes.
• Demonstrated reliability and ability to work in a safety‑critical environment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and climb ladders for inspections.
• Comfortable working around typical water‑treatment chemicals and using protective masks when required.
