Strategic Risk Management Director

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Strategic Risk Management Director to lead enterprise‑wide risk assessment initiatives and embed risk‑aware decision‑making across the organization. The role will act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, ensuring that high‑impact initiatives align with the company’s risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end risk assessments for priority strategic initiatives, including M&A, new market entry, product launches, and major partnerships.
• Provide independent challenge and risk insight to deal teams, product leads, and business stakeholders.
• Develop and implement governance frameworks, processes, and tools for the Strategic Risk function.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on risk implications of strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed risk considerations into business planning.

Required profile

• Seasoned risk management professional or consultant with deep analytical expertise.
• Proven ability to translate complex risk landscapes into actionable insights.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive presence to influence C‑suite leaders.
• Experience with new product approval processes and pre‑launch risk assessments.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and driving a risk‑aware culture.
