Probationary Educational Assistant (0.85 FTE)

About the role

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Schools is seeking a probationary Educational Assistant to join St. Augustine School in Ponoka, Alberta, starting September 1, 2026. The role provides academic and social support to individual students and groups across Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tailored academic assistance and social guidance to students with exceptional abilities or medical needs.
• Support small and large group learning activities, reinforcing literacy and numeracy concepts.
• Assist teachers in implementing Indigenous Learning and Response to Intervention strategies.
• Adapt duties flexibly to meet the evolving needs of a K‑12 environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with students who have exceptional abilities or medical requirements.
• Understanding of Indigenous Learning and Response to Intervention frameworks.
• Strong communication skills, optimistic attitude, and willingness to be flexible.
• Ability to obtain a recent Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Alberta Children’s Intervention Record Check.
• Catholic affiliation is an asset but not mandatory.
