Part-Time Professor – Biotechnology & Life Sciences

About the role

Conestoga College’s School of Health & Life Sciences is hiring a part‑time professor to deliver theory and laboratory instruction for the Biotechnology Technician program during the September‑December 2026 term. The position involves teaching one to two courses (3‑6 hours per week) on‑site at the Doon campus in Kitchener.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain current, relevant curriculum aligned with best practices in molecular biology, biotechnology, food and agricultural science, and microbiology.
• Design and implement instructional strategies, including classroom, online, and computer‑assisted lab sessions.
• Communicate course objectives, teaching methods, and assessment criteria to students.
• Assess student progress, record grades, and provide feedback.
• Support students in using eConestoga and the D2L learning management system.
• Foster an inclusive learning environment that respects diverse cultures, backgrounds, and learning styles.
• Collaborate with department colleagues and college staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (master’s or PhD preferred).
• Minimum two years of experience working in a scientific laboratory.
• At least three years of adult or post‑secondary teaching experience.
• Experience teaching molecular biology, life‑science research, food/agricultural biotechnology, or microbiology is preferred.
• Demonstrated strong presentation, communication, and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using D2L (Brightspace) or similar learning management systems.
• Familiarity with eConestoga platform.
