Laboratory Technician – Microbiology (Casual)

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join its Microbiology department on a casual basis. The role involves processing specimens, operating laboratory equipment, and supporting diagnostic activities in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Retrieve specimens from processing, accession them, and prepare for examination.
• Open, separate, number, and arrange microbiology specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Set up and operate laboratory equipment for specimen processing and slide staining.
• Perform routine daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of equipment and document tasks.
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all laboratory documentation.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned by senior staff.

Required profile

• Graduate of a Laboratory Technician program or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and follow instructions from supervisors.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and reliable work ethic.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.

Required skills

• Accessioning and processing microbiology specimens.

• Knowledge of microbiology procedures.
• Proficiency with word‑processing software.
