Hockey Camp Instructor (Children's Programming)

About the role

The Hockey Camp Instructor will serve as a role model and ambassador for McGill University, promoting a healthy, active lifestyle through hands‑on instruction of hockey activities for children aged 5‑15. This full‑time, fixed‑term position runs from August 14 to August 21, 2026, at the Currie Gymnasium.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in camp orientation and welcome campers upon arrival.
• Coordinate with parents to address individual camper needs and track progress.
• Lead and supervise hockey practices, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.
• Assist Camp Specialists with drills and activities, adhering to the camp schedule.
• Enforce safety guidelines, follow emergency procedures, and report any issues immediately.
• Liaise with Winsor Clinic staff for medical incidents and ensure safe movement of campers throughout the facility.

Required profile

• Bilingual in French and English.
• Experience working with youth in a camp or sports setting.
• Completed Safe Sport Training and True Sport Clean courses.
• Played hockey at major junior, Junior A, or university level.
• Authorized to work in Canada and able to pass a criminal background check.

Required skills

• Fluency in French and English.
• Knowledge of hockey techniques and coaching methods.
• Understanding of safety and emergency protocols for youth camps.
