Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a leading player in retail manufacturing, is seeking a Financial Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. The role reports to senior executives and provides decision‑ready financial intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Direct full‑cycle production of periodic financial statements in compliance with ASPE.
• Govern the general ledger, ensuring transaction integrity and data reliability.
• Drive monthly and annual close cycles with disciplined deadlines.
• Own corporate budgeting, rolling forecasts, and financial modeling for scenario analysis.
• Architect and sustain a robust internal control environment and oversee audit programs.
• Manage cash positioning, liquidity forecasting, and banking relationships.
• Maintain compliance with federal and provincial tax obligations and liaise with external tax specialists.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost‑of‑goods‑sold reporting.
• Champion ERP deployments, system enhancements, and automation initiatives.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in manufacturing, retail, or a related sector.
• Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate variances into actionable insights.
