Emergency Medicine Physician – Williams Lake, BC

About the role

Join the collegial emergency medicine team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC. Our 24/7 emergency department sees roughly 22,000 visits annually, offering a diverse case mix and ample procedural opportunities. You will work alongside specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry, and have the chance to teach medical students and residents through the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural program.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, stabilize, and manage acute and complex emergency presentations.
• Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, vascular access, and wound care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Supervise and mentor medical students and residents in the ED.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.

Required profile

• Current CCFP, CCFP (EM) or FRCPC certification in Emergency Medicine.
• Eligibility to practice medicine in British Columbia.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 rural hospital environment.
• Interest in teaching, mentorship, and leadership development.
