About the role
The Department of Anthropology at McGill University is seeking a qualified instructor to teach ANTH 202 – Socio‑Cultural Anthropology during the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering in‑person lectures, guiding students through ethnographic case studies, and fostering a deep understanding of human societies from a socio‑cultural perspective.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver lectures for ANTH 202 each Monday and Wednesday (5:35 – 6:55 pm) in the Stewart Biology Building, room S1/4.
- Prepare and update course materials, including slides, reading lists, and assessment tools.
- Assess student work, assign grades, and provide constructive feedback in line with university policies.
- Maintain office hours and respond to student inquiries.
Required profile
- Minimum academic qualification: Master’s degree; preference for Ph.D. candidates or near‑completion in anthropology or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in field research and teaching introductory anthropology courses.
- Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
- Fluent English communication, both spoken and written.
Required skills
- Effective public speaking and lecture delivery.
- Curriculum design for undergraduate anthropology.
- Student assessment and grading.
