Application Developer – Academic Management Systems

About the role

Simon Fraser University’s IT Services department is seeking an Application Developer to design, build, and maintain enterprise‑level software solutions for Academic Management Systems. You will work on multi‑domain applications that support faculty, staff, and institutional processes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, design, modify, install, and maintain application programs and integrated systems.
• Develop large, multi‑domain administrative systems following university architectural principles.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including system testing and documentation.
• Provide operational support and troubleshooting for all AMS applications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computing Science or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in complex information‑system development.
• Strong knowledge of agile, SCRUM, DevOps, and continuous integration/deployment practices.
• Excellent understanding of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering.
• Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and influence change.
