About the role
The Department of Geography is seeking an Administrative Assistant to serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and visitors. You will manage day‑to‑day communications, maintain the department’s online presence, and support a range of undergraduate programs.
Key responsibilities
- Answer and direct inquiries in person, by phone, and via email.
- Manage the department’s social media channels and website, including editing webpages and posting content.
- Provide administrative support to undergraduate advising, Honours, field school, and geomatics programs.
- Coordinate meetings, calendars, and events for faculty and staff.
- Perform general office assistant duties such as filing, record‑keeping, and handling confidential information.
Required profile
- 1‑2 years of relevant office experience or an equivalent mix of education and training.
- Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and the capacity to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and prioritize a large workload.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency with MS‑Office Suite.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with content management systems for website and social media updates.
