Academic Advisor for BEd French Pathways

About the role

The University of British Columbia Okanagan School of Education is seeking an Academic Advisor to support students enrolled in the BA (French) – BEd French Pathways program. The role focuses on guiding students through their coursework, language development, and field experiences while aligning with the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies and the Okanagan School of Education priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic advising and progress monitoring for BEd French Pathways students.
• Assist in the development and implementation of authentic cultural and linguistic learning opportunities.
• Coordinate professional placements, experiential learning programs, and community partnerships.
• Collaborate closely with the BEd French Pathways Coordinator, French program coordinator, instructors, and field advisors.
• Represent the university in schools and community settings, fostering connections between teacher candidates, practicing teachers, faculty, and partners.

Required profile

• Experience in higher‑education student advising or academic support.
• Strong understanding of French language education and teacher‑training pathways.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Excellent communication skills in English and French.
