Windows Administrator – Hybrid (Montreal)

About the role

The Windows Administrator will ensure the stability, security and performance of Windows‑based servers and virtual environments for a hybrid workplace in Montreal. You will work on vulnerability remediation, incident escalation and system upgrades while supporting a 24/7 production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Remediate security vulnerabilities and apply patches across Windows Server 2008/2012/2016.
• Configure, administer and troubleshoot Windows servers, Exchange 2016, Outlook and Active Directory.
• Maintain physical and virtual servers (VMware ESX, vCenter) to achieve maximum uptime.
• Provide third‑level (L3) support, perform root‑cause analysis and handle escalated incidents.
• Implement security policies, virus protection and hardening procedures.
• Participate in system builds, migrations, P2V/V2V conversions and server consolidation projects.
• Monitor and optimise CPU, memory, disk and network utilisation on ESX hosts.
• Perform hardware troubleshooting, firmware upgrades and installation of HP, Dell and IBM servers.
• Document standards, procedures and maintain up‑to‑date system documentation.
• Take part in on‑call rotation, ensuring SLA compliance for production services.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to work varying shifts and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Solid understanding of Windows security, file permissions, event logging and performance monitoring.
• Experience with server hardware, virtualization and network infrastructure.
• Ability to manage projects and deliver documentation within deadlines.
