Utility Operator – Excavator & Dozer (Mining)

About the role

Kichton Construction LP is seeking an experienced Utility Operator to join its field operations team at the Fort Hills mine, north of Fort McMurray. The role combines excavator and dozer operation in a heavy‑civil mining environment, supporting reclamation, overburden work, and road maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate dozers (D8‑D10) and excavators (loading tool/finisher) safely and efficiently.
• Load haul trucks, perform grading, trenching, backfilling, sloping, and stockpiling.
• Execute push‑downs, bulking, and mud‑squeezing tasks to precise tolerances.
• Conduct pre‑operational equipment inspections and complete inspection reports.
• Identify and report mechanical issues, hazards, and unsafe conditions.
• Maintain housekeeping of equipment and work areas and follow site drawings and work plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating excavators and dozers in mining or heavy‑civil projects.
• Ability to work in soft ground, around water, and in varied weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures around underground and overhead utilities.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour shifts on a 14‑day on/7‑day off roster.
