Trades 3 – Electrician (Journeyperson)

About the role

The Trades 3 – Electrician works under general supervision to perform skilled journeyperson‑level maintenance, repair and installation of electrical, electro‑mechanical, control and communications systems across the UBC campus. The role requires familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and industrial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration and installation of industrial control and electrical systems.
• Respond to trouble calls and emergencies, including after‑hours service requests from tenants.
• Complete work orders, time cards, preventative‑maintenance reports and as‑built documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe workplace and ensure use of personal protective equipment.
• Communicate with customers, tenants, managers and coworkers to ensure efficient service delivery.

Required profile

• Trade certification to journeyperson level as a Red Seal Electrician or Industrial Electrician.
• Valid BC driver’s licence, perfect colour vision and at least five years of related experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Preferred: knowledge of industrial safety regulations, building codes, ability to read drawings/specifications and strong computer software skills.

• Compensation range $7,487 – $8,028 CAD per month, with overtime at double time.
