Bricklayer – Trades 2 Position

About the role

UBC Building Operations is seeking experienced Bricklayers to join its Architectural Trades team. The role involves skilled bricklaying work for construction, maintenance, and repair of university buildings, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Request and obtain materials and equipment required for assigned work.
• Perform repair work and undertake new construction using brick, stone, concrete block, and tile.
• Prepare estimates and produce inspection reports as required.
• Respond to emergency call‑outs.
• Apply caulking compounds and masonry sealers.
• Install concrete reinforcing rod and wire mesh.
• Finish concrete slabs and walls.
• Ensure workplace safety and adherence to safe work practices.
• Carry out any other related duties as necessary.

Required profile

• Trade certification to journeyperson level as a Bricklayer.
• Valid BC driver’s licence.
• Minimum five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Working knowledge of industrial safety regulations and building codes.
• Ability to work from scaffolding and swing stage.
• Ability to interpret construction specifications.
