Technical Legal Advisor – Capital Markets

About the role

The Technical Legal Advisor joins the Legal Documentation – Capital Markets team at National Bank, providing essential legal support for capital‑markets transactions and operations. You will work closely with internal and external partners, ensuring that contracts and documentation meet regulatory standards while contributing to the efficiency of the transaction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, update, negotiate and organise legal documentation for capital‑markets transactions, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
• Coordinate transactional activities with internal legal advisors, front‑office teams, operations and clients from initiation through closing.
• Maintain, archive and execute contracts, agreements and related legal documents on a daily basis and for special projects.
• Conduct legal research, perform document reviews and support due‑diligence exercises for financial transactions.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments to keep capital‑markets activities aligned with current requirements.
• Identify and implement process‑improvement opportunities to enhance workflow and operational efficiency within the legal department.

Required profile

• College diploma (professional or pre‑university) or Legal Techniques with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Strong interest or knowledge of derivatives and other financial‑market products.
• Hands‑on experience managing legal documentation and contracts in a high‑volume transactional environment, including commercial financing and corporate law.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel.
