Software Engineering Manager

About the role

Impact.com is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the Partnerships Automation squad. You will act as a player‑coach, spending most of your time coding and designing high‑performance backend systems on Google Cloud, while also mentoring a team of engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Partnerships Automation squad and collaborate with engineering and program managers across squads.
• Manage projects from inception to delivery, shaping roadmaps and requirements.
• Conduct regular 1:1s to support engineers’ career growth and skill development.
• Design and implement high‑performance microservices using Java (Spring Boot).
• Write scalable, high‑quality code and integrate cutting‑edge AI/LLM capabilities.
• Design, optimize, and maintain complex relational and document database schemas.
• Troubleshoot critical production issues and enforce best‑practice processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of experience with Java, Spring, and SQL.
• Proven experience leading a squad of 3+ engineers.
• Experience building MCP endpoints with LLM integrations.
• Knowledge of workflow platforms such as Temporal or Conductor.
• Experience scaling infrastructure with Kubernetes (GKE), containers, and Podman.
• Hands‑on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Full‑lifecycle SaaS development experience and strong project‑management skills.
• Demonstrated hunger, humility, and intelligence.

What we offer

• Salary range: $180,000 – $190,000 CAD per year.
• 5% variable annual bonus based on company performance.
• Eligibility for a Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grant.
