Software Engineer II – Android App Development

About the role

Wayfair is looking for a Software Engineer II to join its Native App Engineering team in Toronto. You will help build and enhance the Android shopping experience for millions of customers, leveraging cutting‑edge mobile technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mid‑funnel Android features, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and guide peers through the release approval process.
• Champion test coverage and quality engineering practices.
• Use data and metrics to drive impactful product improvements.
• Collaborate regularly with UX, QA, back‑end/API, product, analytics, and other cross‑functional teams.
• Work closely with iOS and full‑stack teams to deliver robust, aligned solutions.
• Mentor teammates, share knowledge through tech talks, and lead by example.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of professional Android development on publicly released apps.
• Strong passion for clean, readable, and well‑tested code.
• Experience architecting complex features with product managers or stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a hybrid schedule and collaborate across disciplines.

Required skills

• Native Android development (Kotlin/Java).
• Deep understanding of Android fundamentals, endpoint integration, debugging, and memory management.
• Proficiency with architecture patterns such as MVP, MVVM, Clean, or VIPER.
• Test‑driven development and code‑review practices.
