Software Engineer, APIs

About the role

As a Software Engineer on Asana’s API & Developer Platform team in Vancouver, you will shape the next generation of AI‑enabled developer experiences. You’ll design secure, intuitive APIs that power data flow between Asana and external AI agents, working in a hybrid office environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and champion best‑practice guidelines for API design across product teams.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Design, Data Science and User Research to understand developer needs and deliver elegant solutions.
• Build and maintain full‑stack features in Scala and TypeScript to improve developer and AI agent interactions.
• Write clean, maintainable code and continuously improve underlying systems and frameworks.
• Influence the roadmap for the developer platform and agent ecosystems through cross‑functional partnership.

Required profile

• 3+ years experience working in large, complex codebases.
• 1+ years experience building public‑facing API products or developer platforms.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross‑functional work.
• Ability to learn quickly and move between different areas of a large codebase.
• Passion for productivity, inclusive culture and curiosity about AI tools.
