Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join Saltworks Technologies, a Canadian cleantech leader developing advanced water‑treatment and lithium‑refining systems. The role involves taking mechanical designs from concept through fabrication and commissioning while working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Translate process designs into code‑compliant, fabrication‑ready mechanical systems using SolidWorks, ensuring structural integrity and manufacturability.
• Lead cross‑functional design reviews, identify technical risks, and optimise solutions for performance, safety and compliance.
• Develop and maintain high‑quality fabrication documentation, applying advanced GD&T and ensuring consistency across deliverables.
• Provide build‑ready documentation and technical guidance to production, supporting troubleshooting on the shop floor or on‑site.
• Maintain and improve CAD libraries, standards and best‑practice workflows for the engineering team.
• Own the lifecycle of assigned designs from concept through commissioning and operational support.

Required profile

• A degree in Mechanical or Integrated Engineering.
• 10+ years of post‑graduation experience in mechanical design for industrial or process environments.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility to obtain.
• Strong hands‑on mechanical aptitude and ability to resolve complex issues.

Required skills

• Advanced SolidWorks proficiency (routing, large assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, drawings, PDM).
• Experience with GD&T and fabrication documentation.
• Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Aras Innovator) and ERP platforms.
• Knowledge of piping codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, BPVC and CSA B51.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and apply concurrent engineering practices.
