Satellite Database Systems Engineer (Contract)

About the role

The Satellite Database Systems Engineer will design, develop, and maintain databases that support satellite integration, operations, telemetry processing, mission planning, and analytics. The role focuses on handling large‑scale telemetry and command data, especially Mission Information Base (MIB) formats.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise relational and non‑relational database architectures for high‑volume satellite telemetry and command data.
• Parse, validate, and integrate MIB files into satellite operations software.
• Process real‑time and historical telemetry data following CCSDS standards.
• Implement cloud‑based database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure Cosmos DB, Google BigQuery) and containerised deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Automate data workflows using Python, SQL, and shell scripting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience with satellite telemetry and command databases, preferably with LEO/MEO communication constellations.
• Proven experience handling MIB telemetry and command databases for mission operations.
• Familiarity with satellite ground systems and mission control software.
