Roads Labourer

About the role

The City of Iqaluit is seeking a Roads Labourer to join its Public Works team. This full‑time, permanent position supports the maintenance, safety and cleanliness of municipal roads, sidewalks and other public spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with road work such as culvert installation and drainage improvements.
• Perform traffic control during road maintenance and construction activities.
• Support waste management and general municipal operations.
• Help maintain cemetery grounds during burial operations.
• Work collaboratively with crew members in all weather conditions while following safety protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience in municipal services, construction, public works or manual labour is an asset.
• Ability to pass a criminal record check.
• Preference given to Nunavut Land Claim beneficiaries as outlined in Article 23 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.

• Culvert installation and drainage work.

• Basic knowledge of road safety and hazard identification.
