Quality Technician

About the role

The Quality Technician reports directly to the Quality Manager and plays a pivotal role in driving at‑source quality at ALMAG. You will support new product introductions, deliver quality training, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop standard work and ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support New Product Introduction by ensuring new customer requirements are understood and met.
• Perform internal audits across departments to verify compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Collect and provide product samples, communicate performance data, and drive continuous improvement.
• Track and support quality containment processes for non‑conforming products.
• Assist production teams through training, auditing, and development of standard documents.
• Conduct mechanical property testing and use measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
• Provide guidance on work order notes, acceptance criteria, and special sorting tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Independent decision‑making capability and flexibility to meet customer requirements.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of GD&T.
• Proficiency with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
• Competence in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Forklift certification.
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) – asset.
• Certified Internal Auditor – asset.
