Physical Exercise Specialist – Health & Fitness

About the role

The Physical Exercise Specialist will work within Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services to support Armed Forces members recovering from medical conditions. You will design and lead reconditioning programs that improve functional abilities and help personnel return to duty.

Key responsibilities

• Lead reconditioning programs for Canadian Armed Forces members with medical conditions.
• Develop and deliver exercise plans to improve functional abilities and support return to duty.
• Collaborate with health promotion partners to provide education on injury prevention and healthy practices.
• Support the local team through training and professional development initiatives.
• Coordinate special events and initiatives related to physical fitness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences or a related field.
• Current Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP‑CEP) credential or equivalent ACSM certification.
• Current CPR and Basic First Aid certification.
• National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification where required.
• Experience working with military or clinical populations is an asset.

Required skills

• Design and implementation of exercise and reconditioning programs.
• Knowledge of injury prevention and health promotion principles.
• Ability to assess functional limitations and tailor interventions.
