Payload System Verification & Validation Engineer

About the role

The selected candidate will contribute to the entire payload lifecycle—from architecture definition and requirement specification to integration, verification, and in‑orbit validation. The role requires a solid understanding of digital signal processing and RF payload architectures, especially Software Defined Radio (SDR) and Direct Radiating Array (DRA) systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define, analyze, and validate system and subsystem requirements for digital telecommunications payloads.
• Develop and execute verification plans, including test strategies, procedures, and result analysis.
• Lead or support system‑level payload test campaigns at equipment and spacecraft levels.
• Interface with hardware and software teams to ensure correct implementation and traceability of requirements.
• Participate in technical reviews and support anomaly investigation and resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in telecommunications systems, particularly digital payloads.
• Strong expertise in requirements verification through testing and test‑plan development.
• Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to obtain security clearance.

Required skills

• Digital signal processing and RF payload architectures (SDR, DRA).
• Test equipment: Vector Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, baseband signal generators, channel emulators, BER testers.
• Programming and automation: Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, SCPI, VISA.
• FPGA‑based systems and embedded software concepts.
• Requirements management tools such as DOORS, Windchill, or Jama.
