Part‑time Host – Guest Reception

About the role

The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant and lounges at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. You will create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, gather essential dining information, and ensure smooth seating flow to support the service team.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly and courteously, providing a memorable first impression.
• Collect dining details such as dietary restrictions, special occasions, and seating preferences.
• Plan and manage seating arrangements, anticipating fluctuations in guest volume.
• Seat guests efficiently to maintain optimal service flow for servers.
• Conduct regular outlet inspections and report any equipment or aesthetic issues to the Outlet Manager.
• Support other food‑and‑beverage outlets and banquets as directed.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and participate in health‑and‑safety initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience in food and beverage service.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to make effective decisions and work with minimal supervision.
• Capable of maintaining high service standards under pressure.
• Physically able to stand, walk, lift trays and carry up to 30 lb repeatedly throughout the shift.

Required skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Attention to detail for guest preferences and outlet cleanliness.
• Basic knowledge of hotel environmental policies and health‑safety practices.
