Network and Systems Administrator

About the role

The Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and support of Baffinland’s IT infrastructure across its remote Arctic operations. This role ensures reliable network connectivity, server performance and compliance with company security standards while providing final‑tier support for all IT resources.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve high‑priority tickets as the last tier of IT support.
• Engage vendors for specialized system support and warranty services.
• Identify, troubleshoot and remediate hardware and software issues on servers, storage, switches and other IT assets.
• Lift, transport, install and provision moderately heavy equipment such as servers, storage units and networking gear.
• Deploy new infrastructure hardware and software in line with Baffinland standards.
• Install and maintain structured cabling, tower‑mounted equipment and communication cabinets.
• Participate in assigned project work and assist with documentation.
• Maintain clean and organized IT facilities, including communication towers, switch cabinets and server rooms.
• Enforce company security policies and adhere to safety procedures, including operation of man‑lifts, skid steers and boom trucks.

Required profile

• College diploma in information technology, software or hardware engineering.
• 5–7 years of experience in systems or network administration, cabling and IT equipment installation.
• Demonstrated experience in network design.
• Proficiency in Microsoft systems administration.
• Experience with VMware administration.
