Merchandise Planner – Retail

About the role

The Merchandise Planner will drive financial performance for UNIQLO Canada by analysing sales trends, building seasonal sales and margin plans, and managing inventory to meet fiscal targets. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to create actionable strategies that optimise product assortment, promotional activities and markdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Develop seasonal financial sales, gross‑margin and sales plans for multiple departments.
• Reforecast in‑season performance, present updated projections and recommendations to senior leadership weekly.
• Create allocation and flow strategies to satisfy store inventory needs.
• Analyse market trends and customer demand to adjust sales plans.
• Design product assortments (item, colour, size) based on seasonal concepts and submit proposals to global headquarters.
• Manage inventory levels, place seasonal and replenishment orders, and ensure stores have the right SKUs.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to achieve sales targets and business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Mathematics (preferred).
• 3+ years of fashion retail merchandise buying experience.
• Strong analytical and mathematical abilities with solid business and financial acumen.
• Awareness of current fashion trends and customer needs.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently with high ownership and a sense of urgency.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions).
• Strong command of Microsoft Office suite.
