Lead Staff Electrical Engineer

About the role

Join Armstrong Fluid Technology to lead the electrical design of a next‑generation critical‑infrastructure product. You will research, design, and develop the full power chain—from automatic transfer switches to motor controllers—ensuring repeatable, reliable production across global markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design the complete electrical architecture, including dual‑feed 3‑phase input, ATS, disconnect switches, branch‑circuit protection, and motor breakers.
• Develop redundant control power supplies, precision metering, and spill‑protected panels that meet serviceability requirements.
• Own electrical safety design, grounding, bonding, and drive global EMC and product safety compliance.
• Lead DFMEA, risk assessments, and design reviews while managing engineering change, BOM, and drawing releases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering with an Eng designation.
• Minimum 10 years of experience designing industrial or mission‑critical electrical systems.
• Proven track record taking products through global regulatory certification.
• Experience with engineering change management, BOM control, and configuration management in a formal product lifecycle.

Required skills

• Electrical power systems and rotating‑machine knowledge.
• Industrial panel design, including ATS, disconnects, and protective devices.
• HVAC electrical characteristics and integration of chillers, compressors, fans, and pumps.
• 3‑phase power distribution, switchgear, transformers, load balancing, and short‑circuit studies.
• Redundant UPS control, DC power supplies, precision power metering, and harmonics mitigation.
• Compliance with NEC, CEC, UL, CSA, IEC, IEEE 519, NFPA 70E, and related safety standards.
