Kindergarten & Grade 1 Teacher – Relocation & Housing Support

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Kindergarten/Grade 1 teacher to join our culturally grounded school in Iskut, BC. You will work in small classes of up to ten students, supported by a full‑time Education Assistant, and help deliver an inquiry‑based curriculum that honors Tahltan language, land, and traditions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging K‑1 lessons using inquiry‑based methods.
• Support each student’s academic and personal growth.
• Integrate Indigenous cultural content and community‑based learning activities.
• Collaborate daily with the Education Assistant to manage the classroom.
• Participate in school events, land‑based learning camps, and community initiatives.

Required profile

• Valid, unrestricted teaching certification from BC or any Canadian province/territory.
• Recent graduate or early‑career educator eager to work in a remote community.
• Strong commitment to student‑first teaching and cultural respect.
• Positive, motivated attitude and willingness to build relationships with families and community members.

Required skills

• Teaching certification for kindergarten/grade 1.
• Ability to implement inquiry‑based instruction.
• Classroom management for small groups.
• Cultural sensitivity and openness to Indigenous learning.
