About the role
The Health Care Aide (HCA) will join a multidisciplinary team to provide personal assistance and support services to patients in a variety of settings, including home, community, and health‑care facilities. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, the HCA helps implement patient care plans and ensures a safe, supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist nurses with routine care, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs.
- Support patients with activities of daily living and organized programs.
- Observe and report on patients' mood, health status and overall wellbeing.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, families and health‑care professionals.
Required profile
- Active or eligible registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide.
- Proof of education or completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
- Ability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends on a rotating schedule.
- Strong teamwork orientation and ability to follow supervision of regulated health professionals.
