Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will oversee all financial and accounting activities related to the company’s investment and asset management functions. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines staff management with hands‑on execution of complex accounting tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, ASPE, tax requirements and regulations.
• Prepare and review annual financial statement support packages for multiple legal entities and property portfolios.
• Coordinate with external accountants for annual financial statements of corporations, partnerships and joint ventures.
• Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations and consolidations across numerous entities.
• Oversee property‑level accounting, including rental income, CAM reconciliations and lease incentives.
• Handle accounting for property acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and development project costs.
• Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts for property portfolios and development projects.
• Monitor cash flow at property and portfolio levels, manage banking arrangements across 40+ accounts, and oversee accounts payable.
• Maintain general ledger, chart of accounts and internal controls over billing, service charge recoveries and capital expenditures.
• Support audits, internal reviews and enhancements to Yardi operating software.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with financial reporting, property accounting and cash‑flow management.
• Proven ability to lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Experience designing and maintaining internal controls and supporting audit activities.
