Financial Assistant

About the role

The Financial Assistant will join CIFAR’s Strategic Operations team, supporting day‑to‑day financial operations. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will handle accounts payable, transaction processing, reconciliations and reporting in a hybrid office environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process and enter accounts payable transactions, reviewing vendor invoices, travel claims and meeting‑related expenses.
• Assist with weekly payment processing, including EFTs, online bill payments and wire transfers.
• Review monthly credit‑card transactions through DEXT and ensure accurate expense recording.
• Support monthly financial reporting, account reconciliations and balance‑sheet analysis.
• Prepare invoices for partners, donors and vendors, and handle bank deposits and balance monitoring.

Required profile

• Completed Accounting Diploma or equivalent knowledge.
• 1–2 years of accounting experience, preferably with full‑cycle exposure.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
