Facilities Assistant

About the role

The Facilities Assistant supports the Property & Site Development Manager in maintaining, repairing, and preparing Camp Kwasind’s buildings, grounds and guest spaces. This hands‑on role blends indoor and outdoor work and serves a ministry‑focused team that welcomes campers and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with routine and emergency repairs to cabins, lodges, washrooms, offices, program buildings and staff housing.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs such as toilets, sinks, drains and fixtures.
• Replace basic electrical fixtures (lighting, outlets, switches) under direction.
• Carry out carpentry tasks including framing, drywall patching, trim work, deck repairs and furniture repair.
• Paint, stain, seal and conduct surface repairs.
• Support preventative maintenance schedules, seasonal inspections and report issues.
• Clean and reset cabins, washrooms, lodges, dining and meeting spaces, and manage guest‑group turnovers.
• Assist with snow removal, lawn care, brush clearing, leaf removal and trail maintenance.
• Set up and dismantle seasonal structures, docks and equipment, and help with site development projects.
• Provide guest services, room setups, furniture moves and respond to facility‑related needs.

• Basic plumbing repair.

• Lawn care, brush clearing and trail maintenance.
• Operation of snowblowers, lawn tractors, chainsaws, generators and small engines.
• Use of WHMIS‑trained equipment safely.
