About the role
The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is building a substitute list for Educational Program Assistants for the 2026‑2027 school year. Substitutes provide day‑to‑day and short‑term support to schools when permanent staff are absent, helping maintain continuity of services for students.
Key responsibilities
- Accept and complete day‑to‑day and short‑term assignments across any of the 136 school locations.
- Provide direct support to students and staff, including assistance with personal care and classroom activities.
- Follow health, safety and emergency procedures, including first‑aid protocols.
Required profile
- High School Completion Certificate or equivalent.
- Valid Emergency First Aid CPR/AED Level C certificate.
- Experience working with children.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move quickly.
- Willingness to be trained in toileting/personal care.
- Related post‑secondary diploma or certificate is an asset.
What we offer
- Hourly rate of $26.22 CAD.
- Potential for steady and frequent substitute work throughout the region.
