Educational Assistant – Full-time (10‑month contract)

About the role

The Wellington Catholic District School Board is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant to support exceptional students at Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in Guelph. Working under the direction of the principal, classroom teacher, and special education resource teacher, you will help students achieve personal, social, academic, and physical development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist individual students or small groups identified by the site‑based special education team.
• Support the development, implementation, and reporting of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Provide assistance with daily routines such as eating, hygiene, washroom use, physical exercise, communication, life skills, and lunch supervision.
• Maintain strict confidentiality for staff and students.

Required profile

• Experience as an educational assistant within the board or a similar setting.
• Completion of at least two years of post‑secondary education in child development, special education, or related fields (e.g., educational assistant certificate, early childhood educator diploma).
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and families.

Required skills

• Knowledge of special education practices and IEP processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
