Director, Strategy and Corporate Development

About the role

George Weston Ltd is seeking a seasoned Director to lead Strategy and Corporate Development initiatives across its corporate centre and operating businesses, including Loblaw Companies Limited and Choice Properties. The role combines high‑impact M&A execution with strategic planning and corporate finance expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Drive end‑to‑end M&A transactions, including deal evaluation, structuring, financial analysis, modelling, project management, diligence and integration planning.
• Develop and evaluate strategic plans for operating businesses, delivering financial and operational models and presentations.
• Lead cross‑functional project teams, mentor junior staff, and ensure high‑quality deliverables.
• Act as an internal advisor and thought partner to senior leadership, building strong business relationships.
• Coordinate with external advisors such as investment bankers, lawyers, consultants and accountants to align objectives and outputs.

Required profile

• 6‑8 years of experience in investment banking, M&A, private equity, or transaction‑driven corporate development.
• Strong corporate finance knowledge and proven financial analysis capabilities.
• Experience with complex strategic, valuation and transactional modelling.
• Relevant university degree (e.g., BCom, MBA, Masters of Finance); finance designations (CFA, CPA, CBV) a plus.
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
