Director, Data Science

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Director of Data Science to shape the AI and machine‑learning strategy for Consumer Clarity, a product that improves purchase experiences and reduces disputes. This senior leadership position will define the roadmap, guide a high‑performing team, and deliver scalable solutions across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the data science vision and roadmap, aligning with product and business priorities.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a data science team, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
• Partner with product, engineering, and business leaders to translate requirements into data‑driven capabilities.
• Build and scale AI/ML models that enrich merchant data, improve transaction clarity, and lower chargeback rates.
• Drive the design of solutions using generative AI, multi‑agent systems, NLP, and computer vision.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership for model development, deployment, and governance in Azure, Snowflake, and Spark environments.
• Ensure compliance with Mastercard’s data governance, security, and privacy standards.
• Promote innovation through patents, publications, and academic partnerships.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading data science teams in a complex, regulated environment.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence cross‑functional leaders.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable business impact with AI/ML solutions.
