Data Entry Verifier Operator (Summer Student Position)

About the role

This temporary summer position, funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, supports the Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board in improving the accuracy of its databases. The student will verify, update, and help automate data processes while exploring AI‑driven solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify submitted data against source documents, flagging or correcting discrepancies.
• Enter new data and maintain existing records in online databases and spreadsheets.
• Organize information, apply standardized naming conventions, and run simple queries or reports.
• Identify repetitive tasks and test AI or automation tools to improve workflow efficiency.
• Communicate with supervisors and team members to clarify data issues and report trends.

Required profile

• Current student eligible for Canada Summer Jobs.
• Detail‑oriented with strong attention to data accuracy.
• Curious about AI and automation opportunities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

Required skills

• Database management (basic SQL query skills).
• Spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
• Data entry tools such as optical scanners or speech‑recognition software.
• Familiarity with AI data‑cleaning or categorisation tools.
