Course Grader for RELG 358 (Religion and Cinema in India)

About the role

We are looking for a graduate student to serve as a grader for RELG 358 – Religion and Cinema in India, a fall 2026 course offered by the School of Religious Studies at McGill University. The course surveys major 20th‑century Indian films, exploring themes such as identity, gender, visual culture, nationalism, devotion and secularism. The role involves evaluating student writing and participation throughout the term.

Key responsibilities

• Weekly grading of in‑class writing assignments (53 submissions) and entering grades into the system.
• Recording student contributions to oral discussions in MyCourses.
• Grading final projects at term end and entering grades by the specified deadline.
• Assisting with grading of Engagement 1, Engagement 2, In‑Class Writing 1 and In‑Class Writing 2.
• Ensuring all grading is completed according to university policies and deadlines.
• Communicating grading outcomes to students as needed.
• Maintaining accurate records of all grades and related documentation.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled as an MA or Ph.D. student.
• Ideally has taken RELG 358 previously or has coursework/familiarity with South Asian Studies.
• Authorized to work in Canada and willing to work on the McGill campus in Quebec.
