Controller – Finance & Tax

About the role

The Controller will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and lead tax compliance and corporate accounting across a multi‑entity group. This senior role combines strategic tax restructuring, investment accounting, and financial reporting in a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead tax reorganization initiatives and manage annual tax compliance for corporations, trusts, and partnerships.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes, review financial statements and working papers, and ensure accurate accounting for investments, debt, and intercompany balances.
• Support investment analysis, due diligence, acquisition modeling, and portfolio performance reporting.
• Assist with debt management, banking relationships, cash‑management strategies, and capital planning.
• Review legal agreements and contracts from a tax and financial perspective, coordinate entity maintenance and wind‑ups, and liaise with external counsel, tax advisors, and auditors.

Required profile

• CPA designation with at least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, tax, and financial reporting.
• Strong background in corporate and partnership tax compliance, tax restructurings, and entity wind‑ups.
• Experience in investment accounting, financial analysis, and private‑equity or family‑office environments.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and project‑management abilities; capable of working independently.
