Band Building Maintenance

About the role

The Band Building Maintenance position is responsible for preserving the safety, integrity, and functionality of multiple band facilities in Cold Lake. Reporting to the Band Building Coordinator, the employee will handle routine inspections, repairs, and upkeep across a variety of buildings and grounds.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and document maintenance needs for all band buildings, including fire hall, admin office, elders centre, daycare, community hall and health department facilities.
• Perform installation, repair, and preventive maintenance on electrical, HVAC, heating, cooling and plumbing systems.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools, supplies and equipment are readily available.
• Track work orders, update daily logs, and coordinate with the supervisor to prioritize tasks.
• Manage inventory of materials and place orders as required.
• Perform seasonal grounds‑keeping duties such as snow shovelling, grass cutting and waste removal.

Required profile

• High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with utility works and building maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s licence and reliable transportation (preferred).
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards (WHMIS, MSDS, PPE).
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods and work both indoors and outdoors.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
