Associate Product Designer

About the role

Mattel’s Building Sets Campus in Montreal is looking for an Associate Product Designer to join the Toy Design team. You will help create new construction‑toy concepts, from early sketches to production‑ready specifications, supporting iconic brands such as Brick Shop and Mega Bloks.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and develop new construction‑toy ideas, including sketches, block constructions, and functional research.
• Create 3D mock‑ups and prototypes to validate form, function, and play value.
• Prepare detailed technical production specifications and cost‑feasibility analyses.
• Design decorative elements, colors, and new 3D parts ready for injection molding.
• Produce visual assets for product submissions and instruction booklets.
• Collaborate closely with Graphics, Engineering, Marketing, and Brand Management teams.
• Present concepts and progress in formal design reviews.

Required profile

• DEC or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience.
• 0‑3 years of relevant design experience, preferably in the toy or construction‑toy sector.
• Strong passion for design and creativity.
• Excellent hand‑sketching and model‑making abilities.
• Good presentation and teamwork skills.
