Associate Director – Digital Enablement

About the role

The Associate Director, Digital Enablement provides strategic guidance and expertise to senior leaders and staff responsible for UBC’s application portfolio. This senior position ensures that digital services align with institutional priorities, support academic and administrative needs, and drive innovation across the university.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the evolution of the application portfolio toward greater agility, scalability, and innovation.
• Conduct portfolio‑level assessments of application fitness, sustainability, cost, and risk.
• Identify and implement opportunities for application rationalization, modernization, and benefits realization.
• Oversee vendor relationships and ensure effective governance of the application lifecycle.
• Partner with UBC IT and other university units to deliver secure, sustainable digital solutions.
• Develop capabilities within the team, manage risk, and support long‑term digital strategy.

Required profile

• Significant experience in IT portfolio management, application modernization, or digital transformation within a large organization.
• Proven ability to work with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management, and vendor oversight.
• Experience in higher‑education or comparable complex institutional environments is preferred.
