AML Manager

About the role

eqbank is seeking an experienced AML Manager to lead its Anti‑Money Laundering and Anti‑Terrorism Financing program. You will oversee daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement across transaction monitoring, name‑screening and reporting functions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the bank’s AML/ATF program to ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance on adjudication of alerts from transaction monitoring and name‑screening, including PEPs, sanctions and negative news.
• Manage escalation processes, conduct quality reviews of investigator notes, and determine suspicious activity thresholds.
• Develop and maintain internal SOPs, job aids and a performance‑management framework for AML investigators.
• Oversee relationships with outsourced partners, monitor quality, coordinate audits and conduct vendor risk assessments.
• Support regulatory governance by reviewing legislation and recommending procedural updates.
• Communicate issues, system delays and non‑compliance incidents to senior AML leadership.
• Directly manage AML analysts, set goals, monitor quality, and provide coaching and development opportunities.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce or a related field.
• 5‑7 years of AML/ATF experience at a Canadian financial institution.
• CAMS certification (or enrollment to complete within 6 months).
• Strong knowledge of PCMLTFR FINTRAC guidelines and Canadian AML/ATF regulations.
• Proven experience in investigations, name‑screening, high‑risk customer management and enhanced due diligence.
• Previous people‑management experience and experience working with outsourced vendors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Experience using name‑screening, transaction‑monitoring and core‑banking systems.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for interacting with internal and regulatory stakeholders.
