Youth Summer Mentor – Event Lab Facilitator

About the role

The Youth Summer Mentor will lead and facilitate the Event Lab program for 13‑15‑year‑olds at BGC Weston Mount Dennis. Working full‑time during the summer, you will guide participants through leadership workshops, event planning and employment‑readiness activities while ensuring a safe, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and deliver workshops on leadership, financial literacy, event planning and employment readiness.
• Mentor youth in leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills within the Leadership‑in‑Training (LIT) program.
• Guide participants through the planning and execution of three community events, including design of promotional materials and logistics.
• Integrate BGC Canada’s R2 Resilience Approach and Respect2Connect frameworks into daily programming.
• Maintain safety standards, supervise participants, manage group dynamics and resolve conflicts.
• Complete administrative tasks such as attendance records, program plans and reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a camp or youth‑program setting, working with ages 13+.
• Experience facilitating workshops or structured programming.
• Current First Aid & CPR‑C certification and recent police reference check.
• Strong communication, organization and problem‑solving abilities.
• Valid driver’s licence and knowledge of HIGH FIVE principles are assets.
